Wow, June certainly treated us to some sensational sunshine and warm weather! It has been so nice to wear my summer dresses without worrying about layering up and getting caught out in the typical English summer showers.
First stop, Boston Tea Party! I was on the hunt for something delicious for lunch and BTP’s sandwiches do not disappoint. I opted for the mozzarella and chipotle toasted sandwich and a coconut and chocolate topped flapjack for afters. The cheesy chipotle, basil and sun blushed tomato sandwich melted in my mouth, it was truly delicious. The flapjack was light and refreshing. What’s better than a coconut and chocolate combo on a summers day! Boston Tea Party has ample seating, from tables outside to soak up some rays, window seats for people watching and a large seating area upstairs, perfect for catching up with a group of friends. Whether it’s breakfast or brunch or simply a slice of cake and a coffee, BTP is a great spot to meet with friends in the city centre.
Next stop, Cafe Espresso! Located on Castle Street, it is a delightful quiet spot to escape from the chaotic shoppers. This charming cafe offers a handful of seats dotted around the outside of the cafe and some more seating covering two floors. If you are lucky enough to bag the wonderful window seat, you can admire Exeter castle over a delicious cup of coffee. Cafe Espresso has a great choice of dishes, warm and cold, that will leave you desperate for the recipe! Not only do they offer breakfast and lunch they have a remarkable selection of cakes, cookies and beverages. It’s the ideal spot to stop off for a morning smoothie, coffee or cuppa before a day at work.
July has had a showery start, here in Exeter but it looks like the warm weather is on it’s way back! I think July will most certainly consist of more cakeaways, devoured in the glorious sunshine. I cannot wait!
Have a lovely July all!
